Crochet Granny Square Workshop

The workshop will be a 4.5 hour session ( with a short break)
The workshop will take place right next door to Loop, at our lovely neighbour Frequency Coffee. Please come to Loop at least a few minutes before the class starts and we will and bring you over to Frequency, to settle you in with a free coffee as well.
October 10th Saturday : 11-3:30 pm
Workshop perfect for new crocheters, or those needing a refresher, who know the basic stitches, but want to add to their knowledge or gain confidence in using these stitches to make a finished project.
Join crochet designer Claire Montgomerie for a hands-on workshop exploring granny squares, charts, and colourful projects. This session coincides with the publication of Claire's new book, The Complete Guide to Granny Squares .
Claire's new book is not publishing until mid October but you can preorder it here. If you have preordered a book and are signed up to this class you can pick it up on the day and Claire will be signing copies!
Claire is the creator of the bestselling Granny Square Card Deck series, featuring 50 bright motifs with charted patterns. In this workshop, she'll demonstrate how to read and work from crochet charts, guiding you through the process step by step.
What you'll do:
- Choose a motif from Claire's card decks to crochet
- Learn to read charted patterns and work in the round
- Explore techniques including cluster stitches (shells, puffs, bobbles) depending on your skill level
- See samples from Claire's new book showing how motifs can be used in finished projects
Duration: 4.5 hours
Skill level: Improver – you should be comfortable with UK double crochet, half treble, and treble crochet
What to bring:
- Small amounts or scraps of DK yarn in colours you love
- 3.5mm, 4mm, or 4.5mm hook (depending on your tension; the cards use 4mm)
- Stitch markers, scissors, and darning needles (available on request if needed)

* Later that afternoon, join us at Loop to meet Claire and celebrate the upcoming publication of The Complete Guide to Granny Squares. This is a relaxed, drop-in event from 4 - 5pm — a chance to browse the book, have your copy signed, and chat with Claire about all things granny squares. Copies will be available to purchase on the day.
About Claire:
Claire Montgomerie is a textile designer, author, stylist, teacher, and craft editor. Claire was Loop's very first Loopette from 17 years ago and is the designer of our Syd Rabbit pattern from Vintage Crochet, and the Sweetie Pie Capelet from our book, Loop's 10.
She has authored and edited many craft books and magazines, is the stylist and Photoshoot Editor for Inside Crochet magazine and has been teaching knitting and crochet workshops for over 15 years.

Cancellation policy
A refund of payment for a class will be given for cancellations only if the spot can be filled by another student, minus a 10% admin fee. Please be considerate.
We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given.
We're sorry, but Loop cannot be financially responsible for extreme weather conditions or any other situations that are out of its' control.
If we need to cancel the class due to any unforeseen circumstances, we will of course offer you a full refund or shop credit (whatever your preference is).
