We're over the moon to welcome our dear friend, Hikaru Noguchi, to Loop again as she visits from Tokyo, Japan.

Saturday, 20th of June 13:30 - 16:30
*The price of the workshop includes all materials for the brooch kit

Create your own unique brooch using a combination of darning stitches.
In this workshop, you will work with a specially prepared materials kit that includes a selection of high-quality fabrics, beads, ribbons, and other decorative elements curated specifically for this session.

Sample designs will be provided for inspiration—you are welcome to follow them, adapt them, or create a completely original design of your own.

The three types of darning stitches introduced in this workshop can be applied not only decoratively but also for practical mending. Beyond the kit materials, you are encouraged to incorporate your own meaningful textiles—such as a favourite fabric, a piece with personal memories, or even items like a single earring or a pendant. This can transform your brooch into a deeply personal, memory-filled piece.

The finished brooch will be approximately palm-sized or smaller.

Loop also stocks Hikaru's wonderful book on visible mending and surface stitching, as well as her handmade darning mushrooms. We have also just received more of Hikaru's wonderful handmade Jellyfish darning tools!

We are so thrilled to welcome Hikaru back to Loop. When we first opened in 2005, Hikaru Noguchi's knitted garments were one of the very first handmade collections we stocked. I have long loved her whole aesthetic and it has been a joy over the years to see her work evolve. To see her stitched embroidery on knit is now so inspiring and she, along with Celia Pym and a handful of others, is a master at it
