In Japanese, “mofumofu” (もふもふ) is an onomatopoeic word that describes something soft, fluffy, and cuddly, often used for fur, plush toys, or even fluffy clothing. It can evoke the feeling of petting a soft animal like a cat, dog, or rabbit.

This wonderfully soft embroidery thread has a fluffy, tactile quality—like stroking the long fur of a cat or dog. Its playful texture brings a gentle dimensionality to your stitches, transforming even simple motifs.  Filled areas reveal unexpected, sculptural results, and the charming cat design adds a touch of whimsy to every stitch.

This kit is designed for the pleasure of slow, tactile embroidery, inviting you to explore texture as much as colour and form. The finished examples shown in the first and fifth images demonstrate the expressive potential of these unique threads.

Please note

Due to the long, delicate fibres, always use the included threader when threading your needle. We recommend working with lengths of approximately 40cm at a time, as repeated stitching can weaken the fibres. Thread gently—forcing the thread through the needle may damage its soft texture.

This thread is not suitable for dense or heavy fabrics such as canvas.

Both the thread and printed fabric are sensitive to heat. If ironing is needed, cover with a cloth and press from the reverse side using a low temperature.
