BC Garn - Jaipur Peace Silk
A super luxe and beautiful silk from BC Garn that is completely ethical and cruelty - free!
The Eri silk yarn from BC Garn - Jaipur Peace Silk is harvested in a completely cruelty-free manner at a farm in Northeast Thailand. The cocoons of the Eri silkworm, which is a different breed than the mulberry silk worm, are gathered by hand after the worm has naturally left the cocoon. This process allows for a softer and more eco-friendly silk yarn, with a subtle shimmer and a drapey feel. With the same gauge as BC Garn's Jaipur Silk Fino, this yarn is a great alternative for animal-friendly hand-knitting.
BC Garn are the only brand that offers this precious and eco-friendly yarn for the hand-knitting industry.
Try it for super drapey shawls and scarves!
Please keep in mind that silk is not elastic and may stretch after washing, typically by approximately 10%. Additionally, silk absorbs a lot of dye, so some bleeding of darker colors is unavoidable. To prevent this, we recommend rinsing the yarn in cold water with a little vinegar before use. For best results, always wash by hand with a neutral soap and finish with a vinegar rinse to preserve the shiny surface of the mulberry silk.
