Hikaru Noguchi Darning Brooch Workshop
To celebrate Hikaru Noguchi`s new book Beyond Darning : Creative Mending Techniques, Hikaru will show some work from the book and techniques to make a brooch.
* We currently only stock this book in Japanese but the new English version will be available from mid June.
Hikaru believes that many mending techniques and ideas can be used for interesting craft and needlework projects. Bring your own clothes and fabric to create a very interesting brooch or patch.
Materials to bring : fabric which you would like to use for the project (Hikaru will also prepare some, but if you have any special fabric to use)
Darning Mushroom (if you have one)
Date: August 3rd & 4th - Saturday and Sunday
Morning Class: 11am - 2pm
Materials:
Loop and Hikaru will provide a great range of threads and yarns for you to play with on the day, but if you have any you would like to use, feel free to bring those along.
Loop also stocks Hikaru's wonderful book on visible mending and surface stitching, as well as her handmade darning mushrooms. We have also just received more of Hikaru's wonderful handmade Jellyfish darning tools!
We are so thrilled to welcome Hikaru back to Loop. When we first opened in 2005, Hikaru Noguchi's knitted garments were one of the very first handmade collections we stocked. I have long loved her whole aesthetic and it has been a joy over the years to see her work evolve. To see her stitched embroidery on knit is now so inspiring and she, along with Celia Pym and a handful of others, is a master at it
*Prices include some materials. Classes are held at Loop.
Maximum of 7 students per class.
100% deposit is required at registration.
