Ulysses, like his big brother Gilliatt, is a carded wool yarn from Arles merinos bred in Provence and, depending on the colour, from black merino bred in Portugal.

Can be knit as a sport or DK yarn.

All stages of its manufacture are carried out in France with the utmost concern for the well-being of the animals and concern for the environment.

Composed of two ply twists, it is a light, soft and delicately fluffy yarn that will be perfect for trying out colourwork, beautiful cables or highlighting a nice rustic lace.

It comes in natural colours resulting from the mixture of brown and white fleeces and in subtle mottled dyed colours.

De Rerum Natura is a wonderful French brand specialising in the production of European merino yarn. Sustainability and transparency are at the heart of the company’s ethos and this translates into every aspect of their business practice.

50% of their wool comes from certified organic flocks raised by transhumance – an ancient practice in which flocks are moved from one grazing ground to another following a seasonal cycle. The rest of their fleece is sourced from small traditional farms chosen for their respect for animal welfare.

Their yarn is spun and dyed in a small mill in Rougnat, France. The mill uses a phyto-purification system to filter their water as well as dyes that are compliant to the norms set by REACH – an EU organisation in charge of regulating the use and production of chemicals in manufacturing.
* The colour Emeraude has been found to rub off on fingers when knitting. De Rerum Natura suggest to wash your work several times until the rinse water runs clear and if you have a colourwork project, test the sample beforehand to avoid any colour bleed.

This is an ethical yarn that is mulesing-free
