The Nordiska Project
A soft and very beautiful 100% linen thread from Sweden.
Nordiska was a textile house established in 1879 in Sweden. Its rediscovered archive in an old linen factory had a major collection of original drawings , pattern charts and embroidered samples.
Among the treasures were vintage linen threads used for traditional embroidery of household linens and modern textile artwork.
Tanja of Linladan, which means ‘flax barn’, has painstakingly preserved the threads and has started to reproduce some more contemporary linen threads. They are all beautiful and we are so honoured to have some at Loop.
An old Scandinavian proverb tells "Ull blir mull och lin blir gull", (Wool becomes dust, flax becomes gold) : linen stays beautiful and strong, ready for stitching now or in 50 years.
