Handmade Folk Book Workshop with Anne Kelly

The workshop is scheduled to be a full day from 11 am to 5 pm with a break for lunch.
It is a one-day class.
This class will be held next door at Frequency Cafe.
Please arrive at Loop a few minutes early, and we’ll walk you over to Frequency, where you can settle in and enjoy a complimentary coffee before we begin.
This class is suitable for any level of experience and abilities, and stitch techniques will be taught during class as needed.
Join artist, author and tutor Anne Kelly for a one-day course in textile collage and stitch. Working with simple hand-stitching techniques and mixed media, participants will create a folding book form inspired by folk-influenced themes.
The pieces begun in class are portable and designed to be worked on further at home. Suitable for all levels of ability and experience.
Some materials will be provided.

Please bring a small hand-stitching kit, folk-themed fabric snippets or embroidery, and a base fabric no larger than 45 x 5 cm (cotton or linen).
Have a look at our haberdashery sections for anything you might be missing like scissors, embroidery supplies, ribbons or anything else that might inspire.
We have some wonderful embroidery threads from Spain and Japan in lots of colours
Finca perle threads, Temaricious threads or Valdani threads

About Anne Kelly:
UK-based textile artist Anne Kelly is an award-winning artist, author and tutor whose multi-layered, densely stitched textiles have been described as 'small worlds'. Trained in Canada and at Goldsmiths College, London, she creates wall hangings and objects using mixed media collage and hand and machine embroidery, drawing inspiration from travel, memory, nature and folk art. Anne tutors internationally and is a member of the Embroiderers Guild UK, the Crafts Council Directory and the European Textile Network. Her recent solo exhibition 'Well Travelled' at Ruthin Craft Centre was reviewed as 'a delight to behold' by Embroidery magazine, and her six books for Batsford are widely collected and studied by students around the world

A refund of payment for the class will be given for cancellations only if the spot can be filled by another student, minus a 10% admin fee. Please be considerate.
We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given.
