De Rerum Natura’s wool is a blend of French and European merino which is produced in the most ecological way with concern for both the well-being of the sheep and the environment.
The yarn is woollen spun meaning it is light and airy, great for knitting everyday sweaters and warm cozy accessories.

It is an Aran/bulky weight and has a very rounded structure with 5 plies that is perfect for showing off cables or regular straight stitch as well.

It comes in four natural shades (“sel”, “poivre blanc”, poivre et sel“ and “poivre) and a palette of plain or subtly heather colors.

We also have De Rerum Natura's beautiful Ulysse and  Gilliatt DK

De Rerum Natura is a wonderful French brand specialising in the production of European merino yarn. Sustainability and transparency are at the heart of the company’s ethos and this translates into every aspect of their business practice.

50% of their wool comes from certified organic flocks raised by transhumance – an ancient practice in which flocks are moved from one grazing ground to another following a seasonal cycle. The rest of their fleece is sourced from small traditional farms chosen for their respect for animal welfare.

Their yarn is spun and dyed in a small mill in Rougnat, France. The mill uses a phyto-purification system to filter their water as well as dyes that are compliant to the norms set by REACH – an EU organisation in charge of regulating the use and production of chemicals in manufacturing.

All De Rerum Natura bases are muelsing free, ethically, and sustainably produced.
