Stitched Bear Workshop with Aitor Saraiba
Sunday the 20th of September - 10:30 - 2:30pm
In this four-hour workshop, students will create their own Little Saraiba Bear — a vintage-inspired project combining free-motion stitching and patchwork, worked in beautifully tactile, naturally dyed fabrics.
This is the first time Aitor has offered the bear as a workshop, and it's a fittingly special introduction. The kit is one of the most elaborate he's put together — each piece carefully considered, with a level of material generosity and detail that's very much part of how Aitor works.
The base fabric is hand-dyed one piece at a time using natural dyes, giving every bear its own individual character. Paired with a curated selection of vintage and printed fabrics from Aitor's personal collection, the result is something that feels genuinely considered and truly one-of-a-kind.
The class is suitable for all levels. Guidance is given throughout, making this a welcoming project for those newer to free-motion stitching, while still offering plenty to engage more experienced makers.
The kit includes:
- Hand-dyed base fabric, naturally dyed for a warm, organic finish
- A curated selection of vintage and printed fabrics for decoration and patchwork
- Specially designed bear's eyes
- Full instructions and pattern
The day includes a short break, giving everyone a chance to pause, chat, and take stock of their work.
Students may not complete their bear within the four hours, but the kit contains everything needed to finish at home. The focus is on getting confidently underway with the techniques, so continuing independently afterwards should feel straightforward.
Aitor's work extends well beyond the workshop room — his book Embroider Mend Sew, a translation of the best-selling Spanish title Cose, zurce y borda, is published this October, and we're proud to be the first stockist in the world to carry it.
We're also hosting an evening launch event in partnership with Selvedge on Friday 18th September — and the book is available to pre-order now.
