PicaPau Amigurumi Toy Class with Yanina
We are thrilled to welcome Yanina Schenkel to Loop in January from Argentina!
Learn to craft a PicaPau Amigurumi character with expert help from Yanina Schenkel. Perfect for beginners or experienced crochet amigurumi makers! You will need to know how to make basic crochet stitches and be comfortable using a crochet hook. You will be taken through a general review of the basic crochet stitches and all the techniques necessary to make almost any crocheted toy.
Get to know Yanina’s super cute, unique, and charming amigurumi characters. We’ll provide everything you need to create the super sweet Olivia Mouse or Greta Hen character in class. Olivia Mouse is for beginners to intermediate crocheters and Greta the Hen is for more advanced crocheters. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of help on hand if you don’t know something or get stuck in class.

These workshops will be held right next door to Loop, at our lovely neighbour Frequency Coffee. Please come to Loop at least a few minutes before the class starts and we will give you your kit, and bring you over to Frequency, to settle you in with a free coffee as well.

Beginner/ Intermediate
As the level is beginner/intermediate, to participate in this class you only need to know how to make the single crochet stitch, but If you have a little more experience and already crocheted some toys , you will really be able to get the most out of the 3 hour class.
By crocheting Olivia Mouse, you will learn to sew parts in different stages of the making, to divide the work to make the legs (crochet the body in a single piece), and to make different pieces of clothing, as well as to perfect three-dimensional crochet techniques.

Intermediate/Advanced
To get the most out of this class, you need to know how to make the basics of crocheted toys or amigurumis: single crochet stitch, magic ring, increases and decreases.
By crocheting Greta Hen, you will learn how to work around a foundation chain to make an elongated back, divide the work to make legs, wings, etc, sew parts and crochet a mini shawl for Greta, as well as to perfect three-dimensional crochet techniques.

You will receive the pattern as a PDF download with your order. Please bring a printed copy or way of accessing the PDF in class to work from.
You will also need a crochet hook in the range of 2.5mm - 3mm. Everything else will be provided.

About Yanina:
Yanina Schenkel, a native of Argentina, is a renowned crochet toy designer with a background in design and fine arts. Her journey into crochet began during college commutes, evolving into a fusion of drawings and three-dimensional crochet known as PicaPau, established in 2009. Collaborating with illustrious names like Faena Hotel and Anthropologie, Yanina has worked on diverse projects, from children's book illustrations to crochet stop-motion ads.
A regular contributor to publications such as Mollie Makes and Simply Crochet, Yanina is also the author of amigurumi books, including "El mundo de Pica Pau" and the "Animal Friends of Pica Pau" series, translated into 10 languages. Cancellation policy
A refund of payment for a class will be given for cancellations only if the spot can be filled by another student, minus a 10% admin fee. Please be considerate.
We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given.
We're sorry, but Loop cannot be financially responsible for extreme weather conditions or any other situations that are out of its' control.
If we need to cancel the class due to any unforeseen circumstances, we will of course offer you a full refund or shop credit (whatever your preference is).
