Amulet Workshop with Aitor Saraiba
Saturday the 19th of September - 10:30 - 1:30pm
Discover the art of free-form embroidery and embellishment in this immersive workshop with artist Aitor Saraiba, whose expressive, intuitive approach to stitching has earned him an international following.
Students will create their own textile "escapulario" or talisman, a piece designed to be deeply personal and expressive, using a kit curated by Aitor that includes everything you need to bring your vision to life.
Aitor's practice is rooted in the belief that stitching should feel alive — shaped by rhythm, texture, and instinct rather than strict patterns. In this workshop, he shares that philosophy directly, encouraging experimentation and spontaneity as students explore techniques that let their own visual language emerge through thread and cloth.
By the end of the session, each participant will leave with a completed talisman — a tangible result of their creative journey — and the experience of having stitched in a relaxed, supportive environment under the guidance of the artist himself.
Class Materials
All materials are included with class purchase, but if something is meaningful to you, or you just love certain beads or charms, feel free to bring them to the workshop to use with your amulet.
Aitor's book, Embroider Mend and Sew is a translation from the best-selling Spanish title, Cose, zurce y borda., and is published this October — and we're the first stockist in the world to carry it!
Friday the 18th of September : an evening launch event for Embroider Mend and Sew in partnership with Selvedge on Friday 18th —and the book is available to pre-order now! Your pre-ordered books will be with us in time for the event.
