Birds – A One-Day Workshop with Anne Kelly
Celebrate the beauty of birds with this special workshop devoted to birds in textile art. Beloved symbols of freedom, colour, and song, birds are a joyful subject to stitch and explore. Guided by Anne Kelly, you’ll design and create your own unique bird using an inspiring mix of fabrics, trims, and textures drawn from your personal collections. With Anne’s expert support, you’ll discover how to layer, stitch, and embellish to bring your chosen bird to life as a beautiful and memorable piece of textile art.
Saturday 23rd May. 11 - 4pm ( with a short break)
This class will be held next door at Frequency Cafe.
Please arrive at Loop a few minutes early, and we’ll walk you over to Frequency, where you can settle in and enjoy a complimentary coffee before we begin.
To prepare:
Please bring along a detailed photo or drawing of your chosen bird (no larger than 8 x 11 inches) to use as inspiration.
Suggested materials:

A piece of backing fabric (cotton, canvas, or linen – plain or embroidered, up to 8 x 11 inches)

Scraps of colourful fabric, ribbon, or trim for your bird and background

Tracing paper (8 x 11 inches) and a pencil

Glue stick (not liquid glue)

Neutral-coloured tacking thread and pins

Embroidery cottons and a simple hand-stitching kit

An embroidery hoop (optional)
