Daughter of a Shepherd - Heritage 4 Ply
Daughter of a Shepherd. Limited Edition.
With a soft halo and sturdy structure and 100% British this great Limited Edition yarn has a nice bounce and great depth.
Fleeces grown, scoured and spun in the UK.
The overall colour is a complex and natural, dark pitch brown with a reddish tint that becomes silvery grey or tan in different lights. A soft handle produces a fabric with bounce and structure when knitted. The yarn retains its original (and famous) signature scent of the fields, flock and new lambs in straw-filled barns and I am thrilled to bits with it!
The Hebridean fleece comes from a 2019 clip sourced in the North of England having an excellent staple length for yarn with lustre and a soft halo. The Zwartbles fibre it is blended with originates on Exmoor not far from the mill.
Rachel's passion for the importance of provenance, collaborating with both shepherds, mills, designers and weavers has been a wonder to watch unfold over the last few years. We love her, her yarn and her story. See more of her story on our youtube channel as well as our Instagram TV channel.
This lovely yarn was recently featured in Anna Maltz's new book Marlisle in the Ess Shawl pattern!
A new rectangular shawl/stole pattern designed by Olga Buraya-Kefelian featuring Daughter of a Shepherd "4 ply" fingering weight is also very beautiful .
