Daughter of a Shepherd - Heritage DK
Complex and completely natural, dark pitch brown in colour with a reddish tint that becomes silvery grey or tan in different lights. A soft, somewhat drapey, lustrous handle produces a fabric with bounce and structure when knitted. The yarn retains its original (and famous) signature scent of the fields, flock and new lambs in straw-filled barns.
Finest grade 1 Hebridean fleece from the late summer 2019 clip of a flock in Yorkshire is blended with Zwartbles fibre from Exmoor, not far from the mill where the yarn is spun.
We do not second scour the yarn after spinning so advise you make and wash a swatch to realise the full potential of the yarn before starting your project.
Rachel's passion for the importance of provenance, collaborating with both shepherds, mills, designers and weavers has been a wonder to watch unfold over the last few years. We love her, her yarn and her story. See more of her story on our youtube channel as well as our Instagram TV channel.
