Embroidery  Magazine
May/June 2022

We are always excited by the arrival of a new Embroidery Magazine Issue but this one in particular is chock full of inspiring articles and photographs of some of our favourite artists. Our long time friend and talented artists like Julie Arkell as well as Celia Pym and Anne Kelly are all featured in this issue.

We have some truly inspiring workshops planned with Julie, Anne and Celia along with many other classes coming soon.  You can view all of what's currently scheduled here.  As well as classes and workshops, we also stock some of Anne's and Julie's handmade textile art at Loop!

MAKING MEANING
Anne Kelly’s work blends folk art with travelogue
– the result of a life that’s immersed in textiles

THE THREADS THAT BIND US
Celia Pym has built a practice around mending
that bears witness to the personal and the public

FIGURING IT OUT
A curiosity for words and a lifelong love of making
are the driving forces behind Julie Arkell’s practice

CHOREOGRAPHING THE NEEDLE
We catch up with Michael Brennand-Wood one of
the most respected artists working in textiles today

STITCHING SCIENCE
Science merges with art as Lindsay Olson stitches
the life and sounds hidden within our oceans

MECHANICAL MAGIC
Will Cruikshank harnesses the kinetic energy of
experimental machinery to create unique textiles
