Late Bloomer Kerchief Kit
We were smitten as soon as we saw Kristin Ledgett's Late Bloomer Kerchief, and couldn't resist making it in one of our favourite, softest yarns!
The Late Bloomer Kerchief Kit comes with three skeins of Weepaca from Big Bad Wool, a soft alpaca and wool blend with lovely drape, plus a pre-wound half-skein cake. The design is adapted from Kristin Ledgett's popular Late Bloomer Mittens, originally created for The Knit Cafe, and reworked here as a kerchief finished with small embroidered flower buds.
We've knit our sample in Weepaca, which is a worsted weight, so the kerchief comes out slightly larger than the pattern's stated size. We love the result: it makes a generous, cosy kerchief, and the kit has plenty of yarn to cover it.
We embroidered our flowers in a slightly different way from the original pattern, so that the petals are a little puffier. Instructions for this are included in the kits.
The extra half skein means you have what you need without buying a fourth full skein. There's enough yarn for both the kerchief and the embroidery, and we've included the embroidery illustration for reference, along with a Loop project bag to keep everything together while you work.
The pattern is NOT included in the kit. It's available as a PDF on Ravelry
We used a 3.75mm needle for our sample of version 1 of the kerchief designed for a DK weight yarn but make sure to check your tension before starting.
The Kit includes:
All the yarn you'll need for the kerchief and the embroidery
3.5 skeins of Big Bad Wool Weepaca
1 Loop cotton project bag
1 insert of the embroidery motif illustration and instructions for reference on how we embroidered the flower motifs.
