Make a Textile House with Anne Kelly
Join Anne on an exciting one-day workshop at Loop to design and make a textile house.
Anne has been inspired by her workshops looking at home and folk art to make unique and precious little house forms, covered in vintage and stitched textiles. In this class you will learn how to make a template to cover your simple wooden house which will be provided by Anne. You will then create the sides, base and roof of the house using a mixture of vintage and embroidered fragments, and cover it. Anne will supply extra ‘bits’ to inspire you! At the end of the class you will leave with a little house which you can continue to add to at home if desired.
The workshop is 5 1/2 hours total. From 10:30am-4:30pm with a 30 minute break for lunch.
Lunch is not provided, but we offer tea and coffee, and cakes throughout the day.
A piece of strong fabric, not stretchy, canvas, heavy cotton, strong linen no larger than A3 size, neutral colour
Smaller pieces of embroidered fragments, vintage textiles, lace and ribbon in a scheme of your choice, linking colours and a theme if desired.

Some sharp fabric scissors
A hand stitching kit with appropriate colours and a spool of neutral tacking thread
Felt or thin wadding if desired for backing
